Requiem for Aleppo premieres at Sadler’s Wells Theatre on Sunday 23rd April, 9.30pm. It is a fundraising production going to Syria Relief Charity and Techfugees.
In this new production, twelve dancers from around the world come together to express their solidarity with the people of Aleppo through the medium of dance.
The world premiere is underscored by the personal reflections of the city’s inhabitants, representing all parts of society, and interwoven with medieval Arabic poetry and an original score. This extraordinary and haunting lament is a deeply personal response to one of greatest tragedies of our age.
“It is an appeal to our common humanity – an expression of grief articulated in movement, song and design.”
– David Cazalet
Requiem for Aleppo was created and conceived by composer David Cazalet with choreography by Jason Mabana. The event will be live streamed to 27 different venues around the world, including in the US, the Middle East, Australia, Canada, Europe. All proceeds from ticket sales go to Syria Relief Charity and Techfugees.
